In the 1890s, 1,500 yards was considered effective range, and 3,000 yards was long range. During this period, there are no all-big-gun battleships, aircraft, gun directors, or radios. I have pictures also.Dawn of the Battleship simulates naval warfare from 1890 up to 1904, just before technology began to quickly change in the years leading up to WW I. In case anyone's curious, I'm going for 1/6000. I'm interested in books or online articles, the cheaper the better as this is a side hobby for the moment. Part of that is understanding and internalizing gunnery advancements over the period, and understanding how squadron organization happened to gamify the experience and try to come up with an engine that allows players to easily build their own squadrons to play. Noted a lot of the games seem to be mired in older simulation mechanics. Went looking for something to do with these minis. Then printed many (including designing my own, particularly for the U.S). Have a 3D printer, browsed Thingverse out of boredom, found minis for the Russio-Japanese war. Let's see if I can make a long story short.
